About SM Blog Design

One of my favourite parts of blogging was designing and tweaking the look of my blog. In short order, I learned the skills needed to create awesome blog designs. Since then, my interests have grown and I am now able to provide a wide variety of services of use to bloggers and businesses. I cater to small mom bloggers who are looking to take their blogs to the next level. While you worry about producing great content for your blog, let me worry about creating a professional design, carrying your branding through to all your various social media, setting up professional subscription services for your readers, and helping you with any of those ‘technical’ details that you just don’t have the time or inclination to learn.

About SM Blog Design

holdhands.jpgWhile I love to help small mom bloggers make a big impression, I also provides services of interest to small and large businesses. I can set up your web presence with a fantastic BlogSite, set up & maintain your social media, assist you with professional newsletter and list building, and even create a powerful e-commerce store to increase your sales. If you’d like to create a membership site, I can do that, too.

I am also available to hire for coding. Are you a blog designer who loves creating awesome designs, but hates transferring that design into Blogger or WordPress? For a very reasonable rate, I will happily do all the back-end details which will allow YOU to accept even more design clients and free YOU from your least favourite chores.

So, take a look around. My site is full of information on the services I provide. And if you need a service you don’t see listed here, contact me – chances are very good I’ll know how to ‘get it done’ for you!

About Christina

Hello and welcome to my little corner of the world! My name is Christina and it’s a pleasure to meet you – I’m the owner and designer here at SM Blog Design. I’m also a single mother to 5 who was recently diagnosed with Polymyositis. As I struggled to come to terms with both the diagnosis and its limitations on my life, I began writing it all down here. I experienced anger, depression, and hopelessness and it really helped to write it down. I named my blog (SM Blog Design) Spilled Milkshake Blog Design because of the saying, “There’s no use crying over the spilled milk”. That’s how I was feeling…but I have a milkshake addiction. Between my pain and weakness and all the messes that my kids make, there’s a lot of spilled milkshake in my world. Though my blog started as a journal of my disease diagnosis and how I was dealing with it,  I now blog about a wide variety of things. If you’d like to learn more about Polymyositis or keep up-to-date on my PM, please visit me at Living with Polymyositis.

My children are my world and they all give me the hope and strength to get through each day. My oldest, Marine, in the above picture is a U.S. Marine stationed in North Carolina with his beautiful wife, Feather. He is 22 years old and my inspiration. He is currently on his second deployment in Afghanistan. My next son, Pester, is 19 and a senior in high school. He loves his girlfriend Freckles, loud stereos, WOW, his motorcycle, and being bossy. My next son, Genius, is 15 and is a sophomore this year. He’s a shy kid who takes after me in the brains department. Next comes my daughter 11, Drama, who entered this world 13 weeks early at a tiny 2 pounds 4 ounces and has been full of fighting spunk ever since. She enjoys soccer, dance, tumbling, softball, swimming, girl scouts, playing the flute and violin, and driving me nuts. My final kiddo is The Little Man. He’s 8 and in second grade this year. Little man is super smart and loves cars, trucks, demolition derbies, races, and xBox360.

I was diagnosed with Polymyositis in February 2011. Polymyositis is an autoimmune disorder where the immune system attacks the muscles causing pain and weakness. It is a rare disease and the treatment is unpleasant, generally high doses of steroids and other medications that cause awful side effects. There is no cure for polymyositis, but the doctors are hopeful for remission within 5 years. I’ve been a registered nurse for 18 years and have worked a variety of areas, including med/surg, ICU, ER, surgical/oncology, home health, and in the cardiac cath lab. I was working in home health when I was diagnosed and have since been unable to work. Now I spend my days watching too much reality T.V. and spending too much time online. You can usually find me at voiceBoks, on Twitter, or on Facebook! I’d love for you to friend me or follow me. I also hope to spread the word about Polymyositis and help others who’ve been diagnosed with this disease. If you’ve been diagnosed with polymyositis, dermatomyositis, or inclusion body myositis, don’t hesitate to email me – I’d love to hear from you. Polymyositis also shares many characteristics of MS, lupus, or fibromyalgia – if you have any of those diseases, I’d love to hear from you, too.
